It stands in the center, with three red candles to the left and three green candles to the right. On the second night, the red candle at the far left illuminated, as well as the black candle in the center. Each night, illuminate yet one more candle, progressing from left to right. Each night\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e through the First of January focuses on one of seven principles: first, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eumoja\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e (unity); then \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003ekujichagulia\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e (self-determination); next, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eujima \u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e(collective work and responsibility); followed by \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eujamaa\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e (cooperative economics); and then \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003enia\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e (purpose); \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003ekuumba\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e(creativity); and finally \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003eimani\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e (faith).\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese Kwanzaa candles are made by Kapula, a small family-run company in the southernmost region of South Africa. They employ the local rural community as they make, by hand, these beautiful dipped and painted candles.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe colors are exquisite.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBoxed set of seven handmade dinner tapers that are about 9\" tall. The candles are made from the highest quality paraffin wax with cotton wicks and painted by hand. Unscented, smokeless, and free from added toxins.
